Pubs and restaurants have been inundated with bookings for outdoor tables since lockdown restrictions were eased. Unfortunately, despite the public’s appetite for alfresco dining, the number of no-shows is also increasing.
No-shows have been a struggle for the hospitality sector for some time, but reduced customer numbers due to social distancing guidelines have only escalated the problem.
With the industry currently placing greater emphasis on bookings over walk-ins, empty tables are unlikely to be filled at such short notice, impacting the sector's important COVID-19 recovery.
